“Horrible muck,” described BHK MP Naira Zohrabyan the literary works that have received state awards and presidential prizes, as the National Assembly discussed a draft regarding the regulations for awarding state prizes.

According to Zohrabyan, such works received awards because they served the interests of the current government.

“They will again start saying, 'we were offended, our writers were offended, our intellectuals were offended.' I am doing well, yes, I am doing well, because the bar for those state prizes should not have been lowered so much; a literary trifle should not receive the highest award from the state,” said Zohrabyan.

She stated that discussions should first start with who forms the committees that award these prizes.
