Soldier and His 16-Year-Old Son Stabbed in Yerevan
On January 3, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 11:25 PM, a call was received at the Arabkir police department from the 'Astghik' medical center, reporting that a citizen with a 'penetrating stab wound to the left side of the chest' had been admitted to the hospital.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Arabkir police department, led by department head Armen Vatyan, was dispatched to the hospital. The police determined that the victim was 47-year-old Hayk H.
While the police were investigating the circumstances of the incident, another call came from the 'Holy Mother of God' medical center, indicating that a child had been admitted with 'stab wounds to the extremities.' This time, an operational group from the Arabkir police department, along with a team from the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Arabkir investigative division led by investigator Gasparyan, arrived at the medical center.
Police and investigators discovered that the injured party was 16-year-old Rafael H.
According to doctors from both medical facilities, the victims are unable to provide explanations about the incident.
According to Shamshyan's reports, information obtained from the criminal investigation department of the Arabkir police department has revealed the identity of a suspect. The Arabkir police, in collaboration with their colleagues from the criminal investigation and juvenile affairs units of the Yerevan police department and the Arabkir investigative division, determined that on the same day, around 10:50 PM, a resident of 17 Vracakan Street caused bodily harm to the aforementioned individuals with a sharp cutting object.
The suspect, 33-year-old Hayk A., is being pursued by police as they undertake necessary operational-investigative and joint investigative actions to locate him, as well as the weapon used in the crime.
According to G. Shamshyan, among the injured, Hayk H. serves in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, while Rafael H. is studying at one of Yerevan’s colleges. The suspect, Hayk A., had previously caused serious bodily harm to another citizen in 2017 by stabbing him; however, during the judicial process, the court imposed bail as a measure of restraint, and he was released.
