What Is the Reason for the Russia-Turkey Thaw?
The threats of sanctions from Western countries have become one of the reasons for the rapprochement between Russia and Turkey. This was stated by Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalın.
“The threats of sanctions were one of the factors that accelerated the rapprochement between Turkey and Russia. As for the West's criticism regarding Ankara and Moscow's rapprochement, it is a natural result of the isolationist policy towards Turkey, which can be seen in Syria, the Eastern Mediterranean, and other regions,” he was quoted as saying by the Sabah newspaper.
