National Assembly Approves Bill for Early Pensions for Constitutional Court Judges
The National Assembly of Armenia has approved in the second reading a bill introducing an early pension system for judges of the Constitutional Court.
The package of draft laws, aimed at amending the constitutional law “On the Constitutional Court,” proposes that if judges of the Constitutional Court, including President Hrayr Tovmasyan, resign by January 31, 2020, they will receive a pension equivalent to their salary until the end of their term in office.
The project was accepted yesterday with 83 votes in favor and 33 against. Today, the vote distribution was 82 in favor (including 7 votes submitted via letters) and 34 against. The bill was passed despite opposition factions voting against it.
