They Want a Prosecutor Who Will Meet Their Demands: Gevorg Baghdasaryan
The court session continues in the case of Robert Kocharian and others. Prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan opposed the motions for self-disqualification, stating, “They do not want Petrosyan to see themselves as an opposing party since he has submitted complaints regarding their judicial acts. They want a prosecutor who will meet their demands and dismiss the charges. The motions raised in the previous session are unrelated to the trial; he conducted an appropriate action.”
Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan, addressing the motions for his disqualification, mentioned that the grounds for the motions presented in the last session were aimed at misleading the public. “To say that the investigator has concealed materials are tricks to disorient. If the investigator concealed materials, how did they take those materials into consideration?” he remarked.
The defense noted that the time has come to provide answers. “Yes, we have gathered here for the individuals present to answer,” stated Hayk Alumyanc. Disturbingly, several offensive remarks were directed towards the defense side in the courtroom. “If the court does not create a situation where it becomes impossible, when we enter the courtroom, we must be assured that we will not be subjected to insults. If the court cannot create such an environment, we should think about whether to enter the courtroom or not,” he asserted. “If I do not feel confident that no offensive remarks will be made against me here, then I may not be able to be present in this situation. It is unacceptable for insults to be directed at me while you say calmly to sit in your place. They have already insulted me, and you must create an environment where this is impossible from the start.”
