I Have Not Been of the Opinion That My Proposed Bills Should Be Completely Acceptable Like Sacrificial Meat. Petrosyan
During a discussion in the National Assembly, MP Narek Zeinalyan referred to Gevorg Petrosyan's bill, which proposes that before applying a disciplinary penalty, the employer must request a written explanation from the employee regarding the violation. Zeinalyan pointed out that the issue is that employers mostly prefer to make verbal requests, which later cannot be proven in court by either the employer or the employee.
“The committee unanimously voted in favor, and we provided a positive conclusion on the bill,” Zeinalyan concluded.
Gevorg Petrosyan believes that any legislative regulation should be based on the principle of balancing the legal interests of both the employee and the employer, and this is such a case. “Moreover, I have not been of the opinion that the legislative bills I have proposed should be completely acceptable like sacrificial meat. They can indeed be questionable or unacceptable,” Petrosyan joked.
MP Suren Grigoryan from the My Step faction also addressed this bill. “Dear people, I know that the impression is that everyone understands everything, but I will bring an example because I have some doubts.” According to Grigoryan, there was no request for a written explanation from the employee, who was dismissed, and later in court, two other employees from the same company testified that they heard verbally that a written explanation was requested.
When asked what language this was communicated in, they responded that it was in Armenian. “What if that person does not speak Armenian?” Grigoryan asked, adding that this is indeed a very important bill in that it prevents a whole bureaucracy with just one piece of paper.
