Citizen Attempts to Smuggle Large Quantity of Drugs to Inmate at Nubarashen Penitentiary
The staff of the Shengavit division of the Yerevan police, acting on operational information received from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia regarding the Nubarashen penitentiary, detained citizen V. M. on November 1 at approximately 14:10 on Arshakunyats Avenue, based on suspicion of drug possession and use.
During a personal search, packages containing a greenish substance resembling marijuana were discovered, weighing 20.47 grams, while a further 35.85 grams was found in a vehicle.
According to the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, operational data indicates that the citizen intended to smuggle the drugs to the inmate N. D. at the Nubarashen penitentiary during a hearing at the Shengavit administrative district court in Yerevan. An investigation is underway.
