Badasyan Participates in Tasting of Food Prepared for Inmates at Armavir Prison

The Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan participated in a tasting event held at the Armavir Penitentiary Institution, organized by a private company as part of a pilot program to provide food for inmates and detainees.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galayan, Head of the Penitentiary Department Artur Goyunyan, Head of Armavir Penitentiary Gerasim Gevorgyan, and others, as reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.

It is noted that the pilot program for food provision by a private company began on October 15 at Nubarashen Penitentiary and on October 16 at Armavir Penitentiary.

Delegating the food provision function to the private sector means that a new and effective system for food preparation in penitentiary institutions is being implemented by highly qualified chefs.

In a conversation with journalists, the minister stated that the program must undoubtedly continue, as the results so far have been positive, with a 100% satisfaction rate among inmates and detainees benefiting from the food.

According to Rustam Badasyan, by 2021, the food provision function in all penitentiary institutions will be delegated to the private sector.

It is important to note that the prepared meals provided daily to detainees and inmates include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is prepared within the penitentiary institution by specialized chefs.

The food is provided according to a pre-established weekly menu that changes from week to week to ensure meal variety. The menus are developed by the supplying organization and approved by the head of the penitentiary institution, taking into account the diversity and quality of food, caloric content, and other factors.
