Over 2 Billion Drams Allocated to Ministry of Emergency Situations from State Budget

More than 2 billion drams in additional funding will be allocated to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia from the 2020 state budget. Salaries for rescue workers will see an increase.

This was announced by Ara Nazaryan, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, during preliminary discussions of the draft law on the "2020 State Budget of the Republic of Armenia" in parliamentary permanent committees.

“In 2020, it is planned to allocate 15 billion 184 million drams from the state budget to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which is an increase of 2 billion 215 million drams or 17.2 percent compared to 2019. This is mainly due to the increase in salary supplements, bonuses, and monetary incentives for the rescue service workers,” Nazaryan stated.

Of the 2020 budget allocations for the ministry, 11 billion 85 million 400 thousand drams, or about 73 percent, will go towards salaries, while 2 billion 203 million drams, or 14.5 percent, will be reserved for bonuses and monetary incentives for the staff and rescue workers. The remaining 1 billion 895 million drams will cover other expenses for the maintenance of the system's subdivisions and institutions, including value-added tax for the state non-commercial organizations (SNCOs). The budget for SNCOs in 2020 will remain the same as in 2019.
