Details Emerge from the Conversation Between Gagik Harutyunyan and Investigators
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that on October 24, former Constitutional Court President Gagik Harutyunyan was questioned as a witness by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia (ICA) regarding the criminal case against former National Assembly Speaker Ara Babloyan and Deputy Chief of Staff Arsen Babayan.
Exclusive details from the conversation between Harutyunyan and the ICA investigators have emerged. The investigators inquired about when Harutyunyan submitted his resignation from the Constitutional Court to the National Assembly. According to our sources, Harutyunyan stated that he wrote the resignation letter on March 1, but was informed that it was submitted to the National Assembly on March 2.
The ICA investigator presented all the circumstances related to the charges against Arsen Babayan regarding the usurpation of power. However, according to Harutyunyan, referencing various laws, he provided a lengthy explanation over several pages, arguing that the position of Constitutional Court President could not be considered usurped and that everything was conducted in accordance with the law.
According to our information, the ICA investigators deemed his testimony to be a lecture.
Details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper.
