‘Haykakan Zham’ Reports: Close Associates of Sasun Mikayelyan Being Dismissed from Positions

‘Haykakan Zham’ reports that the relationship between Sasun Mikayelyan and Nikol Pashinyan has been tense for some time, and the reason is not the statement defending Vanetsyan, nor the apology offered to Arpine Hovhannisyan instead of Andranik Kocharyan. In recent months, there has been a process aimed at diminishing the influence of Sasun Mikayelyan.

This is primarily being carried out through the removal and neutralization of individuals who have secured positions or mandates with his mediation. Just months ago, in July, the head of the State Revenue Committee, Hakob Hakobyan, who was appointed after the revolution in June 2018 at Mikayelyan's insistence, was dismissed. Previously, he had held the position of chief of the Kotayk regional division of the SRC.

Moreover, just a few days ago, another close associate of Mikayelyan, Vahik Avetisyan, head of the Hrazdan police department, was also dismissed. The police spokesperson clarified that he retired after years of service. However, it is clear that this is merely a formal formulation.
