Charges Filed for Assaulting a Rally Participant During Kocharian's Trial
The investigation within the Shengavit Administrative District of the RA Investigative Committee is underway to clarify all circumstances of the incident that occurred near the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan City Court.
The Investigative Committee of the RA reports that a 39-year-old man has been charged with causing serious harm to the health of a citizen during a conflict. During the pre-investigation, it was revealed that on September 12, 2019, around 18:00, a resident of Yerevan, born in 1979, engaged in a dispute with one of the participants of the rally near the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan City Court, born in 1967. During the altercation, the accused intentionally struck the other person multiple times with his foot on various parts of his body, causing serious injury in the form of bilateral third-degree, closed, multi-fragment, displaced fractures of the upper third of the right leg.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the 39-year-old man has been charged under the first part of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code. A preventive measure of a signature not to leave has been imposed on him. The investigation is ongoing. It is noted that this incident occurred near the courthouse during the trial related to Kocharian’s case. The assailant was one of Kocharian's supporters.
