Rescuers and Police Continue Duty on Kapan-Kajaran Highway
On September 23, at 11:08 AM, the "911" service received a call about a road accident on the 6th kilometer of the Kapan-Kajaran highway, indicating a gas leak and the need for rescuers' assistance.
A firefighting and rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue department, along with an operational group, were dispatched to the scene.
It was determined that the trailer of a "Scania" truck transporting liquid gas (21 tons) had rolled about 30 meters into a ravine. There was a gas leak, but no casualties were reported. Rescuers cut off the power to the truck and established duty at the scene.
At 1:06 PM, a "Mercedes" truck (driver: Ahmad R., born in 1985, citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran) collided with a parked "KamAZ" firefighting vehicle that was performing duty on-site. The passenger of the "Mercedes" truck, Iraz G. (born in 1985), was taken to Kapan Medical Center, where doctors assessed his condition as moderately serious.
The operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue department, one firefighting team, and the operational group continued to work at the scene. Duty is being maintained by 4 rescuers and 3 employees from the Kapan police department, as a liquid gas leak is still present. More information will be provided.
