Illegal Logging Incident Recorded with Damage Amounting to 243,000 Drams
On September 13, at 18:55, a report of a forest violation was received from the ‘Hayantar’ State Non-Commercial Organization, specifically from the ‘Dsegh Forest Enterprise’. It was noted that on September 5, two illegally cut trees with diameters of 34 cm and 50 cm were discovered in the ‘Jaghatsi Gorge’ protective area of the first compartment of the Dsegh Forest Directorate.
Within the framework of a criminal case initiated, it was determined that at around 12:00 PM on September 5, a 20-year-old resident of Karinch village illegally felled the trees using a chainsaw. The amount of damage caused was calculated to be 243,000 drams, and a fellow villager assisted him in transporting the timber. On September 24, the 20-year-old young man gave a confession. The chainsaw has been confiscated. An investigation is underway.
