Details on Altercation Involving Defense Ministry Officer

According to the investigator's motion from the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Vayots Dzor region, the Vayots Dzor regional court has confirmed information regarding an ongoing criminal case against 28-year-old Harutyun Grigoryan, who is the assistant to the Vayots Dzor governor, under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. This case involves a brutal beating inflicted upon 43-year-old Ara Mkrtchyan, a high-ranking officer of the Ministry of Defense.

While the governor's assistant claims that he only made a comment, details indicate that the altercation took place near the staircase of building number 5 on Arsenyan Street. During the incident, H. Grigoryan intentionally struck A. Mkrtchyan in the face with a fist once, causing the latter to lose his balance and fall. Afterward, H. Grigoryan proceeded to deliver numerous and random blows to A. Mkrtchyan's head and various parts of his body with his feet and an unidentified object, resulting in severe bodily injuries to A. Mkrtchyan.

The investigative department is currently determining whether Vayots Dzor Governor Tigran Sargsyan was involved in the brutal beating.
