We Shouldn’t Wait 2-3 Years for Court on a 4000 Dram Fine Appeal: Baghdasaryan

Armenian National Assembly member Nikolay Baghdasaryan has presented a proposal to the parliament suggesting that citizens should first address traffic violation fines to an administrative body before reaching the courts.

Baghdasaryan explained that he has previously represented a case where it turned out that the court was scheduled for the same day the following year. According to him, this proposal aims to alleviate the burden on administrative courts.

“Imagine, you need to appeal an administrative act; the State Inspector has fined you 4000 drams, and yet you wait for 2-3 years to get a response on the matter,” Baghdasaryan characterized the current situation.

His proposal also suggests that the administrative body reviewing the appeals should provide its conclusion not in 30 days but within 15 days. After this period, if the citizen does not agree with the conclusion, they can then approach the court.
