Earthquake Occurs 9 km Northeast of Ashotzk Village
On August 21, 2023, at 14:20 local time (10:20 GMT), the seismic monitoring network of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 at geographical coordinates 41.070°N and 43.960°E, located 9 km northeast of Ashotzk village, at a depth of 10 km. The intensity of the underground tremor in the epicentral area was measured at 3-4 points.
A follow-up tremor with a magnitude of 2.2 occurred shortly after the initial quake. The earthquake was felt in the village of Bavra in the Shirak Province with an intensity of 3 points.
