Armed Man Takes Hostages on Bus in Rio de Janeiro
An armed man has seized a bus full of passengers in Rio de Janeiro, with the exact number of hostages currently unknown. The incident occurred today on the Rio Niterói Bridge.
Reports indicate that traffic has been completely blocked on the bridge towards the Rio de Janeiro city hall. Preliminary information suggests that the hijacker is posing as a military police officer. He has demanded that the bus driver stop the vehicle and has threatened to douse the bus in gasoline.
It has been reported that the man has already released at least four people, including three women and one man. At this time, it is unclear how many people remain inside the bus. According to initial reports, there were 18 passengers on the bus.
