First Outbreak of Anthrax in Belarus in 20 Years
For the first time in 20 years, an outbreak of anthrax has been recorded in Belarus. According to РИА Новости, the disease was discovered in the Brest region of the country, near a horse.
Olga Katysheva, the press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, announced that the body of the deceased horse was burned due to the disease. Preventive measures are now being undertaken in the region to prevent further cases of the disease.
It is worth noting that the last recorded case of anthrax in Belarus occurred in 1999.
