Criminal Proceedings Initiated in Stork Pollution Case

The advisor to the Minister of Environment, Karen Agababyan, who was present today at a ceremony for bathing storks in the village of Hovtashen, Ararat Province, spoke with SHANTNEWS.am about the outcomes of the work carried out this month.

He particularly emphasized the significance of the fact that criminal proceedings are underway. “We were able to identify the potential polluting organization, and a criminal case has now been opened; until recently, it was an administrative procedure. Since we were able to uncover the cause, it means that our environmental inspection body will be more vigilant regarding waste management and will adopt stricter measures,” he noted.

He also discussed the necessity of holding the responsible party accountable.
