‘Jhoghovurd’: Avinyan’s Mother’s Brother’s Son Has Special Status Compared to Other Colleagues
‘Jhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: ‘The purge within the Prison Service of the Ministry of Justice continues, and despite the service head Artur Goyunyan dismissing two of his four deputies, the others remain in their positions. Interestingly, for example, Vardges Tzagikyan, who has been working in the RA Ministry of Justice's Prison Service since 2006, was a leading specialist in the Malatia-Sebastia division of the Division for the Execution of Alternative Sanctions and has held various positions. Just two months after the revolution, on May 15, 2018, he was appointed as the Deputy Head of the RA Ministry of Justice’s Prison Service by the Minister of Justice, and he continues to serve successfully to this day.
According to rumors circulating within the Prison Service, Tzagikyan’s continued employment has deep-rooted reasons, as he is the son of the mother’s brother of RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, thus holding a special status compared to other colleagues.’
