VIDEO: Ombudsman Studies Constitutionality of Istanbul Convention

Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan is aware of the uproar surrounding the Istanbul Convention in Armenia, the concerns of various parties, and he is personally monitoring the developments. He stated this while answering questions from journalists today.

The convention pertains to the protection of women's rights, and according to Tatoyan, the efforts being implemented in Armenia in this regard are not providing adequate effectiveness. However, the defender is also familiar with claims that the provisions of the convention contradict the Constitution of Armenia. Thus, the Defender's office is currently examining the document to provide an appropriate assessment.
