EU Approves Sanctions Against Turkey
The foreign ministers of European Union member states have decided to impose sanctions against Turkey due to drilling activities in Cyprus's exclusive economic zone. This was stated in a statement released by the EU Council.
Brussels has suspended dialogue with Ankara and reduced the volume of aid planned for 2020. This information was reported by the TASS news agency.
In light of Turkey's illegal geological exploration activities, the EU Council has decided to halt negotiations on a comprehensive agreement on air transport and to curtail high-level dialogues between the EU and Turkey. The European Investment Bank has been advised to reassess its lending policy in Turkey.
It is emphasized that the EU will continue to prepare new sanctions against Turkey.
