If Arthur Grigoryan is confident that there are corrupt processes regarding Lake Sevan, he can approach law enforcement: Minister

The Minister of Environment, Erik Grigoryan, provided a brief response in an interview with Tert.am regarding the statement made by the former head of the Environmental and Mining Inspectorate, Arthur Grigoryan, who claimed that the lack of substantive responses from officials concerning Lake Sevan indicates that corrupt processes are currently taking place.

“All concerns raised by Arthur Grigoryan, where he finds that there are legal issues and problems, can be addressed to the prosecutor's office and investigative bodies,” he said.

It is noteworthy that Arthur Grigoryan, addressing the issue of Lake Sevan, wrote on his Facebook page that both the previous and the current governments have done everything possible to postpone checks in Sevan. He also stated that the authorities are engaged in "corrupt" collaboration with private interests and lack the will to resolve the issues surrounding Lake Sevan.

Erik Grigoryan, while discussing the range of problems, mentioned the operations of the network fish farming company in Sevan, stating that it also contributes to the accumulation of phosphorus sediment at the lake's bottom, which in turn promotes the "blooming" of the water. He emphasized that this cannot be categorized as collaboration with the private sector since the fish farm is a state program. He previously stated that if its negative impact is confirmed, the company’s activities will be prohibited.

Meri Galstyan, a member of the "My Step" faction and part of the National Assembly's standing committee on territorial administration, local self-government, agriculture, and environmental issues, noted in her conversation with Tert.am that there have been management-related issues in the past, and they continue to some extent. Like the minister, she expressed the opinion that the former head of the inspectorate can approach law enforcement if he holds such convictions.
