Authorities to Blame for Deterioration of Russia-Georgia Relations: Burjanadze
The authorities of Georgia and the forces under the control of former president Mikheil Saakashvili are to blame for the deterioration of relations between Russia and Georgia. This was stated by Nino Burjanadze, former speaker of the Georgian parliament and opposition politician, in an interview with the newspaper 'Izvestia.'
"Unfortunately, due to the shortsightedness of our authorities, it will be extremely difficult to quickly restore relations to at least the level that existed a week ago," she noted.
According to her, the protests that have started in Georgia have been deliberately turned towards anti-Russian hysteria. In her opinion, Saakashvili is trying to take maximum advantage of these protests, as his anti-Russian policies are his only chance to regain power.
