73-Year-Old French National Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident in Yerevan
A hit-and-run incident with fatal consequences occurred in Yerevan today, June 25. At around 15:05, Bedros Gorichyan, a resident of the Ararat region, struck 73-year-old Varduhi Hakobyan with his Ford car (license plate 36 AD 370) at the intersection of buildings 9 and 14 in the Nubarashen administrative district, right in front of the Nubarashen community hall.
According to Shamshyan.com, the driver did not flee the scene; he attempted to assist the victim and called the police. Law enforcement authorities took the driver to the police station, as relatives of the deceased had also arrived at the scene, and there were concerns that they might seek retribution against the driver.
Eyewitnesses stated that the victim was also a citizen of France and had come to the passport office to retrieve her passport, as she was scheduled to depart for France in two days.
