National Assembly Accepts Agreement on CSTO Cooperation Presented by Vanezyan

The National Assembly today accepted the agreement on cooperation among the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the field of information security, which was presented to the Assembly yesterday by the Director of the National Security Service, Artur Vanezyan.

All factions of the National Assembly voted in favor of the agreement, totaling 97 members.

While presenting the agreement yesterday, Vanezyan stated that the main objectives of the document include the further development of information security among CSTO member states, the enhancement of mechanisms to counter threats in the information sector, and the response to illegal activities in the information space of CSTO member states, as well as mutual support, cooperation, experience exchange, and personnel training.

In response to questions from assembly members, Vanezyan noted that the system will function based on the appropriateness of information transfer between CSTO member countries. “There are relevant state structures that will determine whether it is appropriate to transfer information to a second or third country or not. The same logic will apply among the CSTO member countries. This agreement contains conditions and criteria that the state will take into account, and it is excluded that we will have any leakage of information that could harm the security of the Republic of Armenia. This is a closed system, which pertains only to the CSTO; no information concerning our country’s internal issues will be transferred,” Vanezyan emphasized, adding that this agreement will simply facilitate the work within the CSTO.
