Details on the Stabbing Incident of a 54-Year-Old Man at a Cemetery: An Arrest has Been Made

The Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Armavir region has uncovered several details regarding the stabbing incident involving a 54-year-old man. An arrest has been made of a fellow villager.

On June 18, 2019, at approximately 21:30, the Armavir Division of the Police received a report from the Armavir Medical Center about a local resident, born in 1964, who sought medical attention for a "penetrating stab wound to the abdominal area." An investigative-operational team promptly arrived at the hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Armavir regional division under Article 112, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The man born in 1964 has been identified as the victim.

As a result of investigative actions conducted regarding the criminal case, the circumstances surrounding the victim's injuries have been clarified. Preliminary information indicates that at around 19:00 on June 18, 2019, in a cemetery in one of the region's villages, the villagers engaged in a dispute and fight over a domestic issue, during which the 54-year-old man was stabbed.

Through operational and investigative measures, the identity of the alleged perpetrator, a resident of the Armavir region born in 1978, was established. He has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his fellow villager.

Essential investigative actions have been carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, during which the knife used in the crime was discovered. A witness to the event has been interrogated, and the clothing worn by the victim and the suspect at the time of the incident has been seized.

A forensic examination has been appointed to clarify significant circumstances related to the criminal case. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
