Operation 'The Lake Calls' Sees Over 50 Vehicles Impounded

For several days now, several units of the Armenian police have been conducting intensified operations (commonly referred to as raids) across the country, following the order of Police Chief Valery Osipyan. This initiative is aimed at identifying illegal firearms, drugs, wanted individuals, and drivers under the influence.

This week and on the weekends, intensified operations were also carried out in the Gegharkunik region, led by the region's police chief, Colonel Aram Ghazaryan. Officers from almost all territorial units of the region, in cooperation with the 1st platoon of the 4th battalion of the Road Police, under the command of Edgar Suslyan, have identified and impounded over 50 vehicles, which have been relocated to special protected areas. Moreover, more than 100 administrative violation reports have been filed.

According to photojournalist reports, the operation has been dubbed 'The Lake Calls,' while some gathered remarked, 'Is this a joke? This is the 'Let Me Get This Straight' operation.'

According to G. Shamshyan's information, several vehicles belonging to notorious individuals known for maliciously violating traffic regulations have also been taken to special protected areas in the Gegharkunik region. Some of these individuals, considering themselves 'faces' of the region, drove their vehicles without possessing a driver’s license. When police requested to see their licenses, their response was, 'Has something changed so that you are also bothering us now?' They later emulated the main character from the play 'Required a Liar,' saying, 'Who here doesn’t have a license?'
