Residents of Kond Conduct Protest in Front of Government
Today, residents of Kond are staging a protest in front of the Government building, demanding the creation of a new commission and the surveying of their lands.
“We do not want to listen to anyone; we need the Prime Minister or the Deputy Prime Minister... and the Mayor must be present as well,” the residents stated, adding that they have been fighting for 19 years. “Some officials from the former government have appropriated public lands in Kond without any issues, while we cannot secure our own homes. We are not willing to pay money to obtain what is rightfully ours,” said another resident.
One resident mentioned that he is supposed to be allocated a space for a restaurant complex in the neighborhood, but although there is an agreement, a space is not being provided. “Last year, Mr. Vanetsyan said that within 4-6 months, all Kond residents would have their contracts fulfilled and would receive spaces, but so far we have not received anything. I have applied to the National Security Service three times, and each time the response has been to take it to court. I once went to court, but the case was dismissed. I have had a contract for 10 years, but they are not giving the space, although the buildings are ready. Director of IMC LLC, Gnel Kocharyan, tells me that they are going to sell my spaces to ‘SAS’ or ‘CITY’,” said the resident.
