Most Prefer Old System of 'Feudal-Oligarchic' Governance: Aram Abrahamyan

Despite the revolution in the country, 60 percent of residents in Abovyan did not participate in the mayoral elections, and among those who did, the majority preferred the old feudal, "feudal-oligarchic," clan-based, "philanthropic" system. This was stated by Aram Abrahamyan, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Aravot," on his Facebook page.

Abrahamyan added in his post: "I have certain doubts that our society unanimously 'rejected Serzh', but did not reject the system and the mentality that has been formed over decades, approximately since the 1970s. In brief, it is the belief that 'the king' will somehow grant them a prosperous life. When that does not happen, people settle for the crumbs that smaller-scale 'kings' occasionally allocate to them. First, it should be acknowledged that this problem exists—without falling into the illusions of the 'proud citizen'. Secondly, we must break this mindset by demonstrating 'zero populism'.
