VIDEO: Numerous Offenders Detained
On June 6, police units from the Yerevan city department and its territorial subdivisions, along with the patrol service battalion and the "Zvartnots" airport linear department, carried out enhanced duties in the city. The goal was to protect public order and traffic safety from criminal and unlawful encroachments.
Under the instruction of the Chief of Police of Armenia, Valery Osipyan, police officers acted within legal limits, showing no tolerance or leniency towards lawbreakers. Police operational groups roamed throughout Yerevan and uncovered several violations.
Individuals were detained by territorial police units on suspicions of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and ammunition, carrying cold weapons, intentionally damaging another's property, parading with bodyguards on city streets, appearing in public in an intoxicated state, displaying inappropriate behavior, and failing to comply with the legal requests of police officers.
Police also focused on drivers whose actions posed a threat to traffic safety, with 49 such drivers identified who deliberately committed gross violations of traffic rules, demonstrating blatant disrespect towards other road users, endangering their lives and health. The vehicles of these drivers were towed to a designated area maintained by the traffic police.
Furthermore, several drivers were found operating vehicles without license plates, with replaced or concealed license numbers, and without the necessary documentation. A total of 44 drivers were identified operating without a mandatory insurance contract, and 5 were found to be inebriated.
During enhanced service, five vehicles listed as wanted were also detected.
The Armenian police, concerned about public safety, will regularly conduct such preventive measures. Dear citizens, we urge you to strictly adhere to coexistence and traffic rules; otherwise, the police response will be strict and in accordance with the letter of the law.
