All Stalls Demolished in the Mashtots Avenue Underpass
All stalls have been dismantled in the underground passage adjacent to the Closed Market on Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan. Previously, various shops operated in the area, offering mobile phone and household appliance repair services among others.
Initially, the fairly large shop located in the center of the underpass was dismantled, followed by those arranged along the walls. The mayor's press secretary, Hakob Karapetyan, explained in an interview with 'Haykakan Zhamanak' that the business operator is clearing the area.
"There was a legal dispute regarding this area between the mayor's office and the business operator. The mayor's office demanded payment of the rental fee. Multiple deadlines have been violated and there have been late payments, on the basis of which the mayor's office had filed a lawsuit against the tenant. At this time, the tenant is cleaning the area of their own accord, and it is expected that there will undoubtedly be a more organized environment there, whatever solution is provided. It will be a much more comfortable environment than it was before," said Hakob Karapetyan to the media.
