Applications from Armenian Officials for Russian Citizenship Increase
The newspaper "Zhamanak" reports that, according to our sources at the Russian Embassy in Armenia, there has been a noticeable increase in applications from former and current officials seeking Russian citizenship through expedited procedures. This is directly related to the Russian authorities' decision not to hand over former head of the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Judicial Acts, Mihran Poghosyan, to Armenian law enforcement agencies.
Armenian officials believe that obtaining Russian citizenship offers them reliable protection against political and criminal persecutions carried out by the Armenian authorities.
