Video: Do Not Consider the Position, Wealth, or Status of Offending Drivers - Osipyan
On May 27, the Chief of Police of Armenia, Valeri Osipyan, held a working consultation with the leadership of the Road Police. Valeri Osipyan expressed gratitude for the dedicated and conscientious service on the day of the ‘Last Bell,’ instructing the leaders to convey his satisfaction to their subordinates.
The police chief addressed the issue of public-police trust, emphasizing the significant role of the Road Police in this regard. In this context, Valeri Osipyan instructed the officers to act strictly according to the letter of the law and boldly, without showing leniency towards offenders.
“Do not consider the position, wealth, or status of the offending driver; everyone is equal before the law in this situation,” the police chief emphasized. Speaking about the perniciousness of corrupt practices, Valeri Osipyan expressed hope that road police would not deviate from the demands and logic of the situation. He assured that those who stray would face criminal liability, regardless of rank and position.
The consultation also discussed the prevention of road traffic accidents. To increase the effectiveness of preventive measures, Valeri Osipyan instructed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of all fatal accidents, identifying the root causes of each incident, and to take practical steps towards eliminating them in active cooperation with concerned state and non-state bodies.
Additionally, the efficiency of the registration-examination units of the road police was a separate topic of discussion. In this regard, the police chief also gave specific instructions and recommendations. Overall, while positively assessing the work of the Road Police, Valeri Osipyan stressed at the end of the meeting that resting on laurels is unacceptable. The acceptable outcome for him is to have a daily improving, more qualified, knowledgeable, and assertive Road Police, which aligns with the interests of our law-abiding society.
