Artsakh Prosecutor's Office on Activist Jivan Abrahamyan

The incident related to activist Jivan Abrahamyan during the rally is under the jurisdiction of Armenian law enforcement agencies. This statement has been released by the Artsakh Prosecutor's Office.

In the statement, it is indicated that:

“During the gathering that took place on May 25, 2019, at Freedom Square in Yerevan, participant Jivan Abrahamyan made threatening statements directed at the President of the Republic of Artsakh.

According to information disseminated by the Police of the Republic of Armenia, J. Abrahamyan was taken to the central police station, and measures are being undertaken by the police to clarify the presence of elements of a crime in the aforementioned statements.

Considering that the alleged crime containing apparent elements of a crime occurred on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, it falls under the jurisdiction of Armenian law enforcement authorities. Therefore, the opportunity to respond and the authority to undertake criminal procedural measures also belong to them.”

It is worth reminding that during the rally on May 25 at Freedom Square in Yerevan, organizer Jivan Abrahamyan called for violence against the President of Nagorno-Karabakh, Bako Sahakyan.
