Video: Suspect Found in Murder of Deputy Chairman of the YCAM Echmiadzin Structure

On May 22, criminal investigators of the Vagharshapat division of the police, utilizing operational information in collaboration with the main department of criminal investigation, the regional department of Armavir, and the Kanaker-Zeytun division, apprehended a 52-year-old man wanted for murder.

The man, registered in Echmiadzin, had been wanted since June 7 of last year, with a preventive measure of imprisonment. The incident occurred on April 23, 2018, in the Central Square of Echmiadzin.

During a dispute that erupted near the Komitas monument, the 52-year-old man, with the intent to unlawfully take a life, stabbed a resident of Echmiadzin in the chest. The man, who was transferred to the hospital, died three hours later. A criminal case was initiated on the grounds of murder. After gathering necessary operational-investigative measures and clarifying several circumstances of the case, a decision was made to involve the 52-year-old man as a defendant and announce him wanted.

The apprehended suspect has been presented to the Vagharshapat investigative division conducting the preliminary investigation of the case. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
