Russia Joins Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Project Without Georgian Approval
As previously reported, on May 6, the heads of the railway companies of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Turkey signed a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the field of railway transportation development. In fact, as reported by Sputnik's Azerbaijani service, Russia has engaged in the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars trilateral agreement without the approval of Georgia. The site has addressed the issue of expanding railway cooperation between Azerbaijan, Russia, and Turkey.
The direction for the development of railway transport between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey had been outlined earlier. The Russian Railways company had shown interest in this area previously. Back in 2016, Azerbaijan Railways and Rusagrotrans created a joint venture called AzRusTrans, aimed at increasing cargo transportation volumes and creating more intensive traffic between Russia and Azerbaijan.
