Deputy Head of the State Audit Office Denies Godfather-Godson Relations with Vladimir Gasparyan and Discusses His Wealth
The Deputy Head of the State Audit Office, Argishti Karamiann, today denied reports during a press briefing at the government that he has godfather-godson relations with former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan.
“I have a relationship based on mutual respect with Mr. Gasparyan, but we do not have godfather-godson relations. If I did, I would have openly stated that,” Karamiann said.
He mentioned that he has previously worked in the police, the investigative committee, and the prosecutor's office, urging to consider his “mutually respectful” relations with Gasparyan in that context.
Journalists also asked about the source of the 32 million AMD and 46 thousand USD income declared by the Deputy Head of the Audit Office. To which the official responded, “I believe it is not very ethical to discuss someone’s wealth and assets. I have previously worked in various law enforcement agencies and have held different positions. I officially state that I have never been involved in any corruption scandals, I have not been part of any clan system, nor have I engaged in business. I do not consider it appropriate to discuss my wealth.”
