LIVE: The City Council Session Has Started

The regular session of the Yerevan City Council is underway, with 16 items on the agenda.

Topics under discussion include the election of the chairman and deputy chairman of the Council's permanent committee on financial and economic issues.

One of the agenda items proposes renaming the “Irina Rodnina Figure Skating School.” Another proposal aims to rename the residence of the President of the Republic located at 26/1 Marshal Baghramyan Avenue to “Republic House.” However, Mayor Hayk Marutyan announced that he is removing this issue from the agenda.

“This issue concerns not only the capital but the entire republic; a broader public discussion is needed. After those public discussions occur, we will revisit this issue,” said Hayk Marutyan.

The council will also discuss the creation of a community facility for “Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitation” and the approval of its charter.
