Criminal Case Launched Against 'Jirair' Newspaper for Publishing Serzh Sargsyan's Testimony - Special Investigative Service
The Special Investigative Service of Armenia has initiated a criminal case based on an article published in today's edition of the 'Jirair' newspaper. This information was reported by the media service of the Special Investigative Service.
In the March 16 issue of 'Jirair', an article titled 'Serzh Sargsyan Would Also Issue Order 0038: Testimony of Serzh Sargsyan in the March 1 Case' published excerpts from the testimony of Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan, given during questioning as a witness.
According to the Special Investigative Service, the newspaper has previously published materials containing pre-trial secrets, and they were warned about the legal consequences of such actions on March 15.
The mentioned article of the Criminal Code pertains to the publication of data from pre-trial or investigative procedures without the permission of the prosecutor, investigator, or individual conducting the investigation.
For this offense, the Criminal Code prescribes a fine ranging from one hundred to three hundred times the minimum wage, or detention for a maximum period of one month.
