March 8 Approaches: 3 Million Drams Allocated from Gyumri Community Budget for Cakes, Champagne, and Flowers
In connection with International Women's Day, the Gyumri Council today decided to allocate 3,000,000 drams from the community budget for the organization and execution of events.
According to Hraparak.am, of the allocated amount, 2,100,000 drams will be spent on purchasing sweets, while 400,000 drams will go towards champagne, 200,000 drams for flowers, and 300,000 drams for greeting cards.
The media outlet notes that it has become a tradition for Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan to distribute flowers and greeting cards to women and girls in various parts of the city on March 8.
Furthermore, of the allocated budget, 2,500,000 drams is designated for women working in community-owned institutions, who receive cakes and champagne from the mayor's office a day before the holiday.
It is also noteworthy that almost every year, the mayor's office purchases sweets from a confectionery factory owned by the mayor's family, according to the media.
