Monument to Commemorate Victims of March 1 to Be Erected in Yerevan

By the initiative of the Vice President of the National Assembly, Lena Nazaryan, a monument commemorating the victims of March 1 will be erected in Yerevan. Furthermore, this issue is already on the government's agenda.

According to Armtimecs.com, Lena Nazaryan recently presented the proposal to Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan. The proposal is currently on the desk of the city’s chief architect.

The parents of the victims have expressed a desire for the monument to be completed by the 11th anniversary of the March 1 tragedy; however, this is considered unfeasible by the city hall.

Relatives of the victims suggest that the monument be installed on Grigor Lusavorich Street, near the city hall, as this is where the main events unfolded. On the anniversary of March 1, opposition members and citizens laid flowers near the statue of Myasnikyan.
