Candidate Distributes Food to Residents Ahead of Vardenis Elections, Police Report
Police in Vardenis have reported that a local election candidate and two accomplices distributed food items to residents of the Vardenis community between February 1 and 3, in the lead-up to the community leadership elections scheduled for February 17.
According to the police, the candidate and his associates arrived in a Ford Transit vehicle and claimed that the food distribution was part of ongoing assistance from the candidate.
However, it was revealed that the aid was actually provided by a private company, while the distributors misrepresented themselves as acting on behalf of the candidate.
During their investigation, police discovered that on February 3, the candidate's associates delivered assistance to a family in Vardenis. The homeowner reported that they received rice, lentils, buckwheat, oil, condensed milk, and eggs, along with a request to vote for the candidate.
Further inquiries showed that on February 2, a similar distribution occurred to another family in Vardenis, with the same misleading claims about the food being provided by the candidate.
An investigation is underway.
