Positive Results from Doping Tests: Weightlifter Melina Daluzyan Also Disqualified from Competitions
The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has temporarily disqualified Armenian athlete Melina Daluzyan and four other athletes from participating in competitions after their doping samples tested positive from the London 2012 Olympic Games. This information was reported on the IWF website.
Daluzyan is a multiple-time champion from Armenia, having won European championships in 2007 and 2008, and a silver medal at the 2010 European Championships. Recently, her participation in a film regarding the LGBTQ community caused considerable controversy.
In addition to Daluzyan, positive results were also found in the doping samples of Ukrainian Alexey Torokhtiy, Azerbaijani Valentin Khristov, Uzbek Ruslan Nurudunov, and Belarusian Nikolai Novikov.
It is noted that after re-analysis of the samples taken from the weightlifters during the London Olympics, the banned substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone was detected in their samples.
