CSTO Has Yet to Recognize Armenia's Borders, Says Artur Hovhannisyan
Artur Hovhannisyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, has stated that the CSTO has yet to recognize the borders of Armenia, which our country joined the organization with. The MP responded to a question regarding the threat made by the organization's Secretary General, indicating that Armenia could be stripped of its voting rights in the CSTO and subsequently removed from the organization.
Hovhannisyan reminded that this security organization still needs to answer why it is not fulfilling its obligations towards Armenia. “At this moment, you can see that the Republic of Armenia is doing everything to have its own defense industry with its own capabilities, having various strategic partnership agreements with different countries to ensure its security and consequently enhance its military and defensive capabilities. We envision Armenia having multidimensional relations—both economically and politically, as well as militarily. In other words, once again, not being dependent on a single point, but having various dependencies,” he noted.
