New VPN Blockages Have Begun in Russia
A number of VPN services in Russia have reported disruptions and blockages in their operations. According to Meduza, this information comes from statements made by Amnezia, Paper VPN, and several other services.
Paper VPN has noted that some users are unable to connect to the service or are experiencing slow speeds. The company mentioned that it is currently investigating the issue and is working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. In the meantime, users are advised to wait or to change the location of their server.
No official announcement has been made regarding the cause of the disruptions. However, earlier, RBC reported, citing its sources, that the Russian Ministry of Digital Development is planning to tighten control over the IP addresses of corporate VPNs. These VPNs were previously included in a special list and were not blocked, but following the new changes, some of their operations may also be restricted.
