Brazilian Ambassador Stripped of US Visa
The Trump administration has revoked the US visa of Brazil's ambassador Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries. This was reported by CNN.
A senior official from the US State Department stated that the decision is a retaliatory measure after Brazil delayed the issuance of the necessary agreement (agrément) for the appointment of Daniel Pérez as ambassador.
Washington has also expressed dissatisfaction over Brazil's refusal to issue visas to certain US officials. At the same time, the State Department emphasized that the visa revocation does not imply the ambassador's expulsion. According to the official, the decision will be immediately rescinded if Brazil confirms Daniel Pérez’s appointment as US ambassador.
