100 Hectares of Forest on Fire: Emergency in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, near the border with Germany, a large forest fire has broken out that remains out of control. The fire, which ignited on August 3, has not yet been contained due to constant changes in wind direction.
The blaze has already engulfed approximately 100 hectares, and hundreds of rescuers and firefighters are involved in combating the disaster. Due to the situation, a nearby campsite has been evacuated, and railway communication in the area has been suspended.
According to Financial Times estimates, forest fires and anomalous heat have caused at least €3.1 billion in damages this year in the five hardest-hit EU countries: France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Romania.
