EU to Allocate Additional Over 8 Billion Euros to Ukraine in 2026

The European Council approved changes to the Ukraine Fund and related programs on July 30, allowing for an additional allocation of 8.3 billion euros to Kyiv in 2026. This was announced by the European Council's press service.

"The changes reflect the allocation of 8.3 billion euros for additional financing in 2026, which is provided to Ukraine in the form of a support loan, as agreed by the European Parliament and the EU Council earlier this year in February," the announcement said.

The document mentions that the Ukrainian Plan "defines an ambitious roadmap for reforms that Ukraine must implement before receiving funds under the Fund." The European Council also reported that, in accordance with the European Commission's proposal, "the modified Ukrainian Plan includes additional steps towards reforms, including in the areas of the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts."

Brussels reminded that the Ukraine Fund, which will operate from March 1, 2024, will provide over 50 billion euros in "sustainable financing in the form of grants and loans" to support Ukraine's recovery, reconstruction, and modernization during the period from 2024 to 2027.

Since coming into effect, the Ukrainian Fund has already provided 6 billion euros in interim funding, 1.89 billion euros in preliminary financing, and approximately 21.6 billion euros in total across seven tranches.
